How to Wash a Heated Hoodie: Battery Removal, Cleaning, and Drying
The battery comes out before the hoodie goes anywhere near the wash. After that, the important instructions are the ones attached to your garment—not the cycle you use for an ordinary sweatshirt.
To wash a heated hoodie, first disconnect and remove its battery, then follow the exact model's care label and connector instructions. Use the permitted cleaning and drying methods, and reconnect power only after the garment is completely dry.
What ThermStride's hoodie care information says
The ThermStride 38-Zone Heated Hoodie listing instructs you to remove the battery, protect the power connector, follow the attached care label, use a laundry bag for gentle machine washing, and dry the garment completely before reconnecting the battery.

The attached label supplies the details for your garment. If it differs from a general online description, pause and ask support to confirm the correct procedure for your model. A brief listing is not a reason to guess a water temperature, spin speed or dryer setting.
1. Switch off, disconnect and empty the pockets
Switch off the heating as instructed, disconnect the battery and take it fully out of the hoodie. Leaving the pack in its pocket with the controller switched off is not the same preparation.
Check the hand pockets as well as the internal power pocket. Remove ordinary pocket contents so they cannot snag or mark the fabric. Put the battery somewhere separate from the cleaning area, following its own handling and storage instructions.
2. Read the label and protect the connector
Find the care label before starting. Photograph it so that you can refer to it without unfolding a damp garment later. Check the permitted cleaning and drying symbols and any additional written instructions.
Protect the connector using the method supplied for the hoodie. If that instruction is missing or unclear, contact support with a clear photo of the connector and label. Do not invent a seal or alter the connector to make it seem washable.
Before washing: a five-step preparation check
- Power off and remove the battery. Take it fully out of the internal pocket; switching it off while leaving it inside is not enough.
- Read the attached care label. Check the permitted wash and drying methods for your exact hoodie.
- Protect the connector as instructed. If the protection method is unclear, ask support before washing.
- Use the specified laundry bag and gentle wash. Take temperature, detergent and other settings from the garment instructions rather than guessing.
- Dry fully before reconnecting. Include the battery pocket and connector area in the check; do not use powered heating to dry the garment.

Machine washable does not mean dryer approved. The product listing provides gentle-machine-wash guidance; it does not establish a universal water temperature or permission to tumble dry. If the label is missing or unreadable, send support photos of the garment and connector before choosing a method.
3. Use the permitted wash method
For the ThermStride hoodie, follow the laundry-bag and gentle-wash guidance together with the attached care label. The label should guide the remaining wash choices. Do not turn “gentle” into an invented set of temperature and spin settings.
Choose cleaning products according to the garment instructions. If a particular detergent, stain remover or treatment is not covered and you are unsure, ask before applying it. A difficult stain is not a reason to scrub or handle the heating areas aggressively.
These instructions apply to this hoodie. If you also own the ThermStride vest, keep its care information separate: a method listed for one product does not automatically apply to another.
4. Give drying its own time
Plan the wash for a time when you can leave the garment to dry fully using its permitted method. Avoid scheduling it immediately before you need to wear it again. Rushing is what makes an unapproved shortcut tempting.
Do not reconnect the battery just because the outer fabric feels dry. Follow the garment instructions for complete drying, including the pocket and connector area. Do not switch on the heating to speed things up.
5. Check before the next wear
Once the hoodie is completely dry, look for obvious damage to the garment or accessible connection. If something appears damaged or operation is unusual after reconnection, stop and contact support. Do not open the controller or attempt to repair the heating elements.
Keep your care-label photo and order details together. If you need help, send the product name, label photo and a short description of the issue. That gives support a more useful starting point than “my heated hoodie stopped working.”
For the model covered here, refer to the ThermStride heated hoodie product information alongside the instructions supplied with your garment.
Keep the next wearing routine simple
After the hoodie is completely dry and checked, reconnect the compatible battery and return it to the internal power pocket as instructed. Select the heating areas and setting you need; battery capacity alone does not establish a guaranteed runtime.
For the garment and current package choices, see the ThermStride full-zip heated hoodie. For day-to-day operation, follow the heated hoodie controls guide. If you also own a vest, use its separate washing guide.
Frequently asked questions
Can you machine wash a heated hoodie?
It depends on the model. ThermStride's hoodie listing specifies a laundry bag and gentle machine washing, together with the attached care label. Confirm the label instructions for your garment before washing.
Do I need to remove the battery if the heating is off?
Yes. Switching off is not enough. Disconnect and remove the battery from the hoodie before cleaning.
Can I tumble dry my heated hoodie?
Only if the exact garment label permits it. The instruction to dry completely is not approval to use a tumble dryer or direct heat.
Can I switch on the heating to dry the hoodie faster?
No. The garment must be completely dry before the battery is reconnected. Powered heating is not a drying step.
What if the care label is missing?
Ask support for instructions for the exact model before washing. Include the product name, order information if available, and photos of any remaining labels and the connector.
